[android-developers] Digest for android-developers@googlegroups.com - 5 updates in 4 topics

I'm afraid I'm quite lost because I've built an Android app that uses
tinyalsa through jni, but when I call pcm_open, I get:

cannot open device '/dev/snd/pcmC1D0c': Permission denied

I do see the file in question if I su -c 'ls /dev/snd' on adb shell. In
fact, if I statthis file and the directories above it, all the way up to
the root directory, the permissions that statoutputs conform to the
permissions that I see on my ordinary linux workstation:

All of the directories are 0755/drwxr-xr-x, and the file itself is
0660/crw-rw----.

Is my approach wrong? I am attempting to use tinyalsa by adding pcm.c
<https://github.com/tinyalsa/tinyalsa/blob/master/src/pcm.c> and an
Android.mk file to compile it as a module. Then in another .c file, I call
pcm_open.

*Please, why would Android deny me permission, and what do I need to do
about it?*
Keith Sheppard <keith@writerman.org.uk>: Nov 05 10:17AM -0700

I have an activity in which there are several buttons and a spinner
containing a list of preset values. Unfortunately, if the user accidentally
or mistakenly taps the spinner, the soft keyboard appears. Why? There is
nowhere on the screen that expects typed input from the user.

More to the point, how can I prevent this from happening? After some
research, I tried adding the following code:

m_TricksPicker.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() {
@Override
public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
InputMethodManager imm=(InputMethodManager)getApplicationContext().
getSystemService(getApplicationContext().INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE);

imm.hideSoftInputFromWindow(getParent().getCurrentFocus().getWindowToken(), 0);

return false;
}}) ;

Unfortunately, this throws a null pointer exception. Any other suggestions
how to stop the keyboard from appearing (and I'd really like to understand
why the system thinks it's necessary in the first place, when no user input
is required)?

Vardan Petrosyan <vardan.petrosyan@picsart.com>: Nov 05 12:27AM -0700

I am trying to copy from one allocation into another one:

public void test(Allocation inputAllocation, Shape shape) {
inputAllocation.syncAll(Allocation.USAGE_SCRIPT);
mRS.finish();

Allocation inputInitialAllocation = Allocation.createTyped(mRS, inputAllocation.getType(), Allocation.MipmapControl.MIPMAP_NONE, Allocation.USAGE_GRAPHICS_TEXTURE | Allocation.USAGE_SCRIPT);

inputInitialAllocation.copyFrom(inputAllocation);

inputAllocation.syncAll(Allocation.USAGE_SCRIPT);
inputInitialAllocation.syncAll(Allocation.USAGE_SCRIPT);
mRS.finish();
//doing job with inputInitialAllocation and inputAllocation
}

The result differs depends on how I am copying the allocations. When I am
doing manual copy (convert allocation to array and then create new one) it
works perfectly, but when I am using
inputInitialAllocation.copyFrom(inputAllocation); the result is different.
What can cause to such a weird behavior? By using copyFrom() I am getting a
blurred image, whereas with the manual copy I am getting the normal image.
